Because other members of this community have requested that this issue be reported in this community. It does function as a community knowledge/issue forum and knowing that this is an ongoing common issue for these iMacs would suggest that it is a design/manufacturing fault. Having owned very many desktops starting with the 128k in '84 ... screen failure like this is completely new to me ... but I'm not just 'unlucky' ... this community tells me I'm not. I did have extended Apple Care ... but it ran out ... thanks

You have 3 options

1 - pay the $1200 AUD to have it fixed.

2 - get a second monitor and use it.

3 - accept the loss and get a 10 Core Mac Mini M4 with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD ($999 US + tax) with a 27" LG 4k monitor ($250 US + tax from Amazon.com)  is $1249 US + tax which is $560 less than a similarly configured new 24" iMac ($1799 US + tax)  re 07/2025

I got the same Mac Mini M4 but with a 32" LG 4K monitor w/speakers for only $60 US more. Don't know what your sources are down under for monitors but it should be better than $1200 AUD.
