Final Cut Pro clips and pictures not loading into project drop zones

Media clips in Final Cut Pro library will not load into drop zone of project. I have been using FCP for a few years and have a pretty good understanding of the basics. It seems like out of nowhere I can not load any clips into any projects. I select the Drop Zone and then select the clip that is already loaded onto FCP but the APPLY CLIP button is not activated. It happens on all previous Projects as well as with clips and pics that previously worked.

You can't just select a clip and have it go to a drop zone, you have to select a clip (either in the browser or in the storyline) and THEN select a frame in the clip from which to start the drop zone content playback. When you mouse over the clip in the browser (in List view - the clip is at the top of the column) or in the side-by-side screen, the cursor will change to a "finger" curser ( similar to:👆) and you need to click at the frame you want. You should then be able to Add Clip to the drop zone. HTH
