Unable to move contacts into lists on iPhone and Mac

Having just gotten a new iPhone I've tried to import my Contacts. It did import automatically but from my old Android/Google.

I've eliminated my contacts from Google and tried to sync Contacts from my Mac.

Something went amiss.

On my Mac I can open Contacts normally and see all my lists, I can likewise see my lists on my phone. The problem is that on my Mac I cannot move a card into one of my lists, it doesn't react and allow me to drop the card into the list.
