MacBook missing from Find My (iCloud device list shows it, app doesn’t)

Hi everyone,

So I'm having this issue with my MacBook where it's not showing up in my Find My devices list. Other devices are visible, but the laptop isn't. Here's what I've tried so far plus some additional info:

  • I recently had to sign out of the iCloud account but signed back in, it was working before I did that.
  • The MacBook doesn’t appear in the Find My app on my MacBook, iPhone, or on the web iCloud portal.
  • Find My Mac and Find My network are turned on in iCloud settings.
  • Location Services are enabled for Find My under Privacy & Security settings.
  • The MacBook does appear under Devices in iCloud settings on both my iPhone and Mac.
  • However, when I click on the MacBook in that list, it says Find My is off, even though it’s enabled.
  • I verified that all devices are signed in to the same iCloud account.
  • I tried signing out of and back into iCloud on the Mac.
  • I also restarted both the iPhone and MacBook; both devices are up to date.

I'm not really sure what else to do 😞 Thanks in advance for the help!

I just safe reboot, didn't work. I logged out of iCloud, shut down Mac, safe reboot again and logged into iCloud while on safe reboot, didn't work.

I also just tried adding the MacBook to FindMy through a new test user, didn't work.

I'm not sure what you mean by "deleting some related preference file". Everything still looks exactly the same as in the screenshots I attached to my original message.

I don't think it's a hardware issue either, any other ideas? Thank you.
