Adding Mac to "My Devices" on Find My but not showing up

I'm trying to add my current MacBook Air (I've been using it for 5 years) to my devices on Find My, but I can't see it from my phone, from any of my family's devices, nor from my laptop itself.

• I'm logged into the same Apple ID on both my phone and my laptop.
• I've quadruple checked that my "Find My Mac" is on, my location sharing is on, via the location sharing settings and iCloud. I also tried restarted my laptop after making this change in settings.
• I can see my family members and their devices, they can see my phone and my other devices from both my laptop and my phone. My laptop is just not listed as a device.

When I open Find My on my laptop and click on me (I can see my family members), it says that I'm sharing my location from my iPhone (and I can't change this). From my phone I tried clicking "add other item" but my laptop never shows up.

I'd really like to be able to see my laptop and also be able to erase it should it get stolen, the basic Find My device stuff.
