How Does One Get a Start-up Sound in a Rev A iMac?

Hey folks, I used to have a Rev A iMac in the late 90s, and I gave it a Mothra screetch to go on as soon as everything loaded up. I cannot seem to get that done today with the Rev A iMac I have now.

Any thoughts? Is there a specific sound file format that needs to be used for the Startup Items folder?

Thanks :D

It was definitely an AIFF with a .snd filename extension, but Classic didn't use the extension to determine its type.

.wav files (for example) could not be read natively. I never heard of .sfil.

Anything you put in Startup Items will launch (open, play, etc) upon startup. If it's something that can be double-clicked it will work. If it's a file the Mac can't read it will just remain inert.
