How to turn off the orange mic dot on iPhone after iOS update?

Just updated OS yesterday 8/14/25 and microphone Orange dot won't turn off

Even after doing settings / microphone/ turning off every single app using it

+ rebooting

when I do the drop down menu I see audio visual / voice isolation even with this on standard and turned off setting / audio visual/ headphones accomodation

still my microphone is on

any info?

did we loose control and apple is always listening?

I just helped a family member with this after the most recent update. Hopefully this helps you as well!

go to Accessibility > Vocal Shortcuts. Make sure Vocal Shortcuts is “Off”.

There is a way to see what is using the microphone. With the orange dot on, swipe down at the upper right to see the control panel. Top Center should show the dot AND the application that is using it. I've attached an example of what you should see. (In my case, the app is also using location services.)

This should let you identify the culprit. Good luck!!
