imessages not loading for certain contacts on iphone

I’ve been through multiple of the other threads that have asked this question, and gone through sync settings with iCloud. I have updated my phone, even gotten a larger iCloud storage, as I was close to the threshold. I kept getting the spinning wheel under two different contacts, and would occasionally be able to see just the most recent messages, however, they would often be gone when I’d go back to recheck.

I was finally able to solve my own problem, however, unable to comment on any other thread because they were all closed, so I am starting this thread.

What was weird is that I could see the imessages on my iPad or laptop, but not on my iPhone.

My issue was with two contacts, one of which, for some reason had two numbers under their contact info (the same number just twice). When I deleted one of those numbers, the iMessages reappeared. With the other contact, I did not have the country identifying code before the number, so I added the +1, and it started working.
