USB Formating to FAT32 issues with Mac Sequoia

I need to format a USB drive to FAT32 on MacBook Air M2 running Sequoia 15.6, and it seems impossible: I tried to erase it with Disk Utility, but the only formats now available are APFS. Any ideas? This would ruin the use of DJ equipment like CDJs (that only support FAT) if you own Macs.

What is the current map scheme and format of the USB drive..?

Click the View box on the Disk Utility tool bar and select "Show all Devices"

Select the external USB drive in the sidebar, them select Erase on the tool bar.

Now select Master Boot Record for the map scheme and MS-DOS for the format.

Just to add to the good advise by my colleague @den.thed

According to Apple

File system formats available in Disk Utility on Mac

Excerpt from above

Disk Utility on Mac supports several file system formats:

  • Apple File System (APFS): The file system used by macOS 10.13 or later.

  • Mac OS Extended: The file system used by macOS 10.12 or earlier.

  • MS-DOS (FAT) and ExFAT: File systems that are compatible with Windows.

Hi; thanks for coming here. I’ve formatted it to APFS, just to have it mounted. But that left me without any further format option available in Disk Utility. Meanwhile I tried do use the Partition function in Disk Utilities , and there was the MS DOS available, so I went for it. I hope this works as a solution — at least the Rekordbox software recognized it and started the backup. And I also hope that the CDJs will recognize and mount it too. ;)
