Sounds won't turn off for Messages on Macbook Pro [M4 Pro, Sequoia]

Do Not Disturb is on.

Notifications for (Apple) Messages are turned off manually in stystem settings.

User Interface sound effects are switched off as well.

Still hearing the annoying "dooih" evetry time a message is sent.

I know I sent it. I'm the one operating the laptop.

Stupid to begin with and beyond frustrating to deal with after re-installing Sequoia once already on an M4 Macbook Pro I just bought last month.

Seems people have been having this issue for a long time now – since Snow Leopard, and nobody's bothered to patch it.

It's not a user problem, it's a bug.

Please use this to generate a bug fix ...and fix it.

We all really appreciate it.

Thanks.

P.S. Globally turning the alert volme off (down all the way) does work.

I may be wrong, but don't think that's what's intended. Certianly not on IOS or any of my 3 older Macs.
