Hello JamesDonaldson1470! There is typically two ways you can activate iMessage on your iPhone - using your cellular number or your Apple ID email. Here are some helpful steps to guide you in the right direction.
- Make sure you’re connected to a mobile data or Wi-Fi network.
- Make sure your device is running the latest version of iOS.
- Make sure your time zone is set correctly. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time.
Once you have verified and completed steps above..
Go to Settings > Apps > Messages and turn on iMessage. Select which option you want to use iMessage, rather your phone number or Apple ID email. You should then see a “waiting for activation” message appear. Wait a few moments and iMessage should then be activated.
