sync issues between windows laptop and I Phone x

when i sync i phone xr to windows laptop to import music to I Phone , sometimes it imports music I have not checked, and when I try to import all podcasts from laptop it will omit some. Memory on i phone is 256gb, I only have about 15 photos on phone it always shows adequate space for download. My phone locked up recently when applying software upgrade and required factory reset. I am not tech savvy, but i have tried the things i know including deleting all previous music from phone. Anyone please can suggest solution,
