My iPhone won’t connect to CarPlay on the iOS 18.6 update. My wife’s iPhone is still on iOS 18.5 and works fine. Anyone else experienced this? Is there an issue or workaround?

I can assure you iOS 18.6 is not the problem as there are almost no reports of this. You might also contact your vehicle dealer to see if they have any information or reports. Since this is a new vehicle there should be little if any problems with CarPlay.

My screen gets to this point then just goes back to the screen listing potential and paired Bluetooth devices, says the AirPlay device is connected, but doesn’t come up with the screen saying AirPlay setup complete etc.

Great troubleshooting! Well done! This will be added to my notes. The question would be how Content & Privacy Restrictions got turned on if you didn’t do it. If iOS 18.6 made this a default then we should be getting tons of complaints but we’re not. Sometimes crap happens for no apparent reason.
Also having this issue. iPhone 14, worked fine last night, phone updated overnight, got in the car this morning and it won’t work.
Wired connection so phone is charging, but car screen says “reading USB device… Phone is not responding”. Have checked the settings and all seems fine, have disconnected and it reconnected but it still won’t work.

work when I plug it in but that was never an issue before. Even today when I plugged it in, I had to delete all connections and restart everything. Tried the fox recommended below but it wasn’t engage. May backup phone to regular iOS 16.
I have been dealing with this since yesterday when more than one of my devices updated to 18.6.1. My one device that has not updated connects just fine.
is there a way to roll back the update so I can test it on an updated device?
Have a similar issue. My wife has same exact phone and IOS; connects no problem. Whereas I don’t even have the CarPlay settings in my iPhone, it’s like the app doesn’t exist at all. No idea how to fix short a factory reset which always sucks and would like to avoid.

I’m having the same type of issue. I know it has to be comparability with my vehicle. My daughter’s phone not updated works fine in my car. CarPlay. For my 14 pro does not work but works perfectly in my daughters car.
I upgraded to 18.6 on an iPhone 13. I wire this as Bluetooth connection is terrible. Day after upgrade CarPlay not working. Just upgraded to 18.6.2 and still same issue.
this is a 2yr old Renault austral. Everything worked on a wired connection the day before the upgrade.

try Setting—general—transfer or reset iPhone—reset—reset network settings
plus all the above that was discussed above in the reply
and definitely deleted your device in the car and reconnect.

I am running into the exact same issue after my phone updated to IOS 18.6.2. I even tried all the recommended troubleshooting options and now my phone can’t even find my car in CarPlay (even though I’ve always used wired CarPlay since I drive a Jeep, but it was always connected/could find my vehicle before). Is there a fix being implemented for his inconvenient bug?
I have the same problem after the update to 18.6.1.
the odd thing is that music plays but I can’t get to CarPlay Home Screen to select the apps , so navigation maps like Waze etc don’t display on the car screen.
content privacy was not enabled. I’ve tried everything else.
I was unable to use Carplay after update (18.6.2 on iphone11 usb connected with gmc 2019) and tried all reset steps. My wife's phone (18.5) still worked.
Solved: When i turned off my VPN (surfshark) Carplay worked fine again. It was repeatable (VPN on = Carplay blank screen, VPN disconnected = Carplay fine), why? htfw.
All I can report is that my iPhone and CarPlay work just fine with iOS 18.6. Try restarting your iPhone first as that often clears glitches after an update.
