Switching on Photos option is missing on my MacBook Air after latest update

switching on my photo is gone, instead there is only a pink circle with the first letter of my name: 'P' . How can I restore the previous version?

"Switching on Photos option" where exactly...?

For what purpose exactly?

Are you by chance trying to edit your user avatar image(?)

>System Settings>Apple Account

move your mouse over the image to reveal the "edit" option

Sorry for my English, I'll try to explain it better:

Opening my laptop, it appears the screen where I have to enter my IDApple, if requested. Previously, before the last update, there was a chosen photo of mine, above the slot and the name of the Admin. Now there is a pink circle with the first letter of my name (P). Trying to replace the circle with my picture there, where it used to be, I was unsuccessful.

Thanks

Something that's confused me more than once: In Owl-53's screenshot, the "Camera" choice lets you take a picture of yourself and use that. "Photos" takes you to the pictures in your Photos Library where you can use one of those pictures. If you have a picture in a Finder Folder that you want to use, you may have to drag that to Photos so that you can use it from there.
