This used to work before going to 18.6. I am using an iphone 16 Pro
When at home I point my DNS to my local DNS server so i can resolve the IP to my automation server. With 18.6 i notice shortcuts doesn't seem to be using the local IP address for the FQDN, but when doing an NSLookup it does resolve the IP.
I opened a feedback ticket but no one has looked at it for over a week. I took TCPDump traces showing the issue.
The shortcut works fine on my macbook, but my iphone is seeing the issue once i upgraded to 18.5. It used to work just fine for previous versions.
I did a tcpdump on my wireless unit and when i set the shortcut off, i dont see a UDP = 53 request coming out. Same test on my MAC and i see the DNS request.
This initially leads me to think IOS isn's sending out DNS requests for local DNS servers (ones on private IP ranges specifically)
Details for setting up networks for Private Relay, for anyone following along that might be unfamiliar:
Are you possibly running into the parallel-but-different implementations of dig, nslookup, and dscacheutil?

If Private Relay is enabled, you won’t see port 53 traffic.
It’s possible to reconfigure the network to use of local DNS, in that case.
You are correct with private relay. I had enabled this feature while overseas last month and forgot to disable it again. A local ip bypass feature is needed. Cheers for the assistance
