My email (mail app) is being screen recorded and going into split screen

i saw a previous community chat about this but it is not closed and I cannot find it anymore. It was from may -july 2025. I am having this issue in August 2025 and the previous chat never had a solution at all. my mail app is coming up with a purple screen recording dot in the right corner and then recording my mail app. my mail app randomly pops up like a split screen glitch too

Re: "My email (mail app) is being screen recorded and going into split screen"

Wondering if updating the MacOS to the newest version may help (NB: Wise to back up Mac first if updating )

(In MacOS 15.6 Apple provided important bug fixes and security updates.)

Else, if already using MacOS 15.6:

You might want to check whether you have given any apps (eg: social media) permission to send you notifications, or such that split screen and / or if you allow apps or websites to use your camera (screen recording).

Eg: Go to System Settings > Notifications to check which apps, if any, you allow to send notifications.

Go to System Settings > Privacy and Security > Camera to check if apps allowed access your camera.

Open Safari: Click Safari > Settings > Websites > Camera to check if websites can access your camera
