on MacBook, unable to switch off Apps on "Saved to iCloud"

My MacBook is syncing certain Apps to to iCloud — and it won't let me switch those Off. When I click on the switch, nothing happens.

There are some Apps that *will* let me do it, but others won't. For example: I have no need for iCloud to sync Shazam or Keynote or Voice Memos, but my MacBook has decided that I've gotta sync that info to iCloud whether I want to or not.

Does anyone know how to defeat this?

Thanks!

I can turn Keynote, Pages, etc off. I don't have Voice Memos on my Mac, but I can turn it off on my iPhone.

Do you use "Cleaners" or "Anti-virus" or other apps like that? There's no need, and the can mess up the Mac. Do you use a VPN? If so, try turning if off.

To narrow things down, try these steps:

  • Restart the computer (of course)
  • Re-start in Safe Mode. This bypasses certain potentially disruptive processes, and it often helps. Safe Mode is different for different computers, so see this:

Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

  • Make a new user and see if the same problem recurs with it.

The idea is to find out if the problem is with your account, or with caches and login items, and stuff like that. One of these steps may fix the problem, but their failure to work also helps figure out what's happening.
