How can I unlink my son’s iPhone from his school iPad while keeping Family Sharing?

My son has an iPhone and Apple ID. It is linking to his school iPad which I want to remove. I have the family app so I can control apps, Comms etc. so any restrictions I put on his iPhone also affects his school iPad.
