A (hopefully) final follow up:

I noticed the Samsung Odyssey 43" monitor would not respond to "Night Shift" settings. Googled it to find a solution. Came across this: https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments/10p3qvu/night_shift_not_working_on_external_smart_monitor/

I installed BetterDisplay and configured it according to the instructions. After playing around a bit, MacOS finally recognizes the Samsung monitor as a display, and not a TV.

All previous problems have completely disappeared. BetterDisplay has a 14 day free trial, and I am advised the settings remain after it has expired. With that said - there are a ton of configuration options within the app, and I think the price is worth every penny.

It is totally ridiculous that Windows and Linux both recognize the monitor properly, but MacOS requires a 3rd party piece of software, but to finally put this behind me? Yeah. I'm just ready to move on.

Best of luck to all! Hope this has been helpful.
