How to exit Photos albums without saving to Memories?

I have several "Albums" in my Photo app that I periodically need to add, subtract, or move around photos as I continually improve my albums. Trouble is whenever I try to exit said albums, a window appears asking to 1. Save to Memories, 2. Discard changes, or 3. Cancel. I don't want to discard my changes, and don't necessarily want to make yet another Memories page, but it won't let me "Cancel" and get out. So, I'm stuck with having to save to memories. I can't remember how many different memories I have of the almost exact albums. HELP I feel like a photo prisoner. How do I gracefully escape without all these memories? They're pilling up. Thanks for any help :)

Are you viewing the albums as a slideshow, while managing the album? As soon as you are playing an album as a slideshow, the Photos.app is creating a memory from it and you will have to deal with the memories. All slideshows are now automatically saved as memories: Make and play slideshows in Photos on iPad - Apple Support (CA)

To update the albums, just open the album and select the photos you want to remove or to add to a different album, but do not play the album as a slideshow. Add, delete, and find photos in albums on iPad - Apple Support (CA)

Thanks so much for your help. I don’t think I’m using the slideshow feature because I have two choices, Photos or Movie with Apple Music support. I watch the video/movie and usually change the song to one from my Playlist. When I get through, I just want to get on with my life but it doesn’t seem to want me to leave. It’s as if I’m caught in a circle maze.

Thanks, Richard. I’ve been looking for a delete option and thought I had covered all of the bases, but evidently not. I appreciate you taking the time to upload the pic so I can see exactly where too find it. I’m going there now. I’m just a homegrown Analog old man, trying to cope in this Digital environment. I will succeed. Thanks

But when you are using this, you are playing a slideshow, and are creating a new memory. There is no longer any way in iOS/iPadOS to view the items in an album automatically as a film without creating a memory. As soon as you tap the "film" tab and change the music or modify the photos, you will be asked, if you want to save the new memory.
