Trying to set up new ipad (A16) but getting server error everytime. Can anyone help please?

Tried pairing through other iPad and phone with no luck. ipad just sat waiting to be used! Tried restarting and doesnt work.

If the donor iPad, from which you are transferring your data precedes iOS12.4, QuickStart will not be available.


“Transfer” is rather a misnomer. In reality, your data and setup is merely cloned to the new device. Nothing is moved or removed from the original device.


An alternative is to restore either an iCloud or iTunes backup to the new device:

Thankyou for your reply. I have tried all methods to get it up and running. Even changing my password and things and just comes up server error everytime. Its very frustrating. I did check out the support before asking the question on here and as i said i have done everything it suggests. Not sure what to do next as nothing is working

This would suggest that your internet connection may be the issue - as connection to Apple's back-end servers may be being unexpectedly blocked.


You may find that a restart of your WiFi Router, followed by a restart of your iPad will clear the problem. To restart your router, disconnect power from the router for at least 30 seconds - then reconnect power to restart. After your router reboots (which may take several minutes), force restart your iPad.


Otherwise, try setting-up and activating your iPad using a different internet connection. Perhaps a helpful friend or neighbour will be able to help? Otherwise, a visit to the visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be delighted to offer assistance:
