How do I access Safari browsing history on iPhone running iOS 18.5?
iOS 18.5. I know most people wouldn’t run into this issue, but it’s affected me a lot. If you accidentally open over 500 tabs (yes, I know it’s a lot, don’t bother asking why I have so many) it closes the oldest one within the last month, without telling you which one it closed, but Safari doesn’t even store browsing history from over a month ago? Going to recently closed tabs doesn’t tell you which one it closed. I don’t see any way to access my browsing history from over a month ago or an option to store browsing history for longer. I know it must be stored somewhere since safari will suggest websites I’ve been to in the past, so why can’t I access my history? Why isn’t there a way to stop it from automatically closing an old tab without notifying me? It’s so frustrating accidentally losing a tab that might have been something important and having no way to see what it was. I don’t understand why Apple designed it this way. It really needs to warn you before closing old tabs. Sure, maybe you aren’t supposed to have that many tabs open, but they could have just prevented more from being opened at all instead of closing an old one without telling you what it was.
I know I could restore my data from a backup, but you can’t even see what dates you have backups stored from without resetting your phone, and I don’t even know which tabs were closed on what dates. I’d risk losing more data from resetting, anyway. There’s been multiple times where I’ve lost all my tabs after iOS updates with no record of what was closed. It’s really upsetting that Apple doesn’t seem to prioritize being able to store and access your tabs and browsing history.
