Messages on my Mac Studio crash when opening certain contacts or threads

Messages on my Mac Studio.

certain contacts & threads will crash Messages if i click on the name or the thread. I can open those threads fine on my iPhone & MacBook Pro. Just whenever i click on the name on the Studio it crashes & the error log popup shows up. both are Apple iPhone numbers so nothing to do with other operating systems.

i've restarted my machine, restarted Messages, logged out & back in on Messages. still doesn't work. there is nothing in the messages except text & street addresses so there's nothing nefarious in the text messages.

it even crashes when opening a test text from my own phone number.
