New to Apple
trying to figure out why I can’t close start page.
I only use safari,device been acting up.

Using the white bar at the bottom of the page, put your finger on it and slide up the screen half way and stop. This will bring up the App Switcher and you can then Force Close Safari, by sliding it up and it will close.
I searched through all sorts of things in Settings, Safari, and finally all across the phone and couldn't locate anything. I figure if it is important, they will be back, but they haven't been here in 4 hours.
Does your screenshot show where the phone is stuck? If so, tapping "Done" in the upper right corer should close that page.

I can close tab in Private but this other one called Start Page will not close. Safari looks different also.
In that screenshot I was showing in History that it had an option for additional options but it was greyed out and would not let me choose.
It appears you already have Private Browsing enabled, so I'm not sure what you're actually trying to accomplish?
So it’s normal to have a “start page” and a private?

Where exactly are you seeing this page. I'm trying to find it on my iPhone and I'm completely lost. I'd like to help, but I cannot determine what it is that you are doing.
I can't figure out where they are on their phone either?
Thank goodness. I was beginning to question my understanding of my iPhone.
I finally gave up trying to find where that setting is and figure it can't be that important if its that difficult to find.
