Horizontal lines in imac M1 make display unusable for professional work

Horizontal lines have appeared on the screen of my imac m1 2021.

The imac has been in the same place for years and I also use a UPS.

I find this problem unacceptable to use for professional work. I have found multiple posts of the same case and that's why I'm already ware this has been caused by a design flaw on this model of imacs. And I am also aware that this problem will get worse with time.

Persistent horizontal lines appear on iMa… - Apple Community

This is actually the third time I have troubles with Apple selling products with design flaws. It has previously happened to me with two macbook pro:

  • A 16-inch MacBook Pro (Intel) that after 18 months of use had a SSD failure that I then found out was a known and repetitive issue and
  • The last 17 inch Macbook Pro model , which had a gpu flaw that got service repaired but eventually stopped working again because the logic board used as replacement had the same flaw

You have 3 options:

1 - have Apple repair the screen at a reported price of $600+.

2 - add a 3rd party monitor while darkening the iMac's screen.

3 - replace the iMac with a new M4 Mini: a 10 Core Mac Mini M4 with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD ($999 + tax) with a 27" LG 4k monitor ($250 + tax from Amazon.com)  is $1249 + tax which is $560 less than a similarly configured new 24" iMac ($1799 + tax)  re 07/2025

I just got the above new Mini M4 with a 32" 4K LG monitor w/speakers (didn't realize the Mini came with a speaker). It was around $550 less than a. comparably configured new iMac. You can get more RAM, storage and cores in the CPU.
