How do I upload photos from Samsung mobile to iMac?

tried uploading photos from samsung mobile to IMac (2015, Monterey 12.7.6 or similar).Installed updated SmartSwitch on IMac for transfer with usb cable, but it won't connect. I'm not comfortable trying to troubleshoot on my own and would appreciate help - even if it's that my IMac and samsung phone are incompatible, but I don't see why that should be!

Again, just making stabs in the dark. But when you are "uploading photos from samsung mobile to IMac," are you attempting to upload to Finder folders or to Photos. Going to Finder folders would have at least one less variable.

If it were an iPhone I would suggest a forced re-start. Have you tried that on your phone?

Cables can be a real problem-- have you tired swapping those out?

For the Mac side, to narrow things down, try these steps:

  • Restart the computer (of course)
  • Re-start in Safe Mode. This bypasses certain potentially disruptive processes, and it often helps. Safe Mode is different for different computers, so see this:

  • Make a new user and see if the same problem recurs with it.  T

The idea is to find out if the problem is with your account, or with caches and login items, and stuff like that. One of these steps may fix the problem, but their failure to work also helps figure out what's happening.

I will follow up your suggestions, but in the meantime, I recalled an extremely ancient Toshiba laptop I've still kept, and lo and behold, when I connected it to the mobile with the standard mobile USB charger cable, it imported the photos with no need for passwords, special apps, prayers, incantations or other rituals. It was fairly slow but I didn't mind that.

Have we really progressed in ease of use of technology?

The laptop was also able to download the OS for my Epson ecotank and print off the photos!

If any of your suggestions work, I'll let you know, but thanks for your time and input anyway.

(With the IMac, there didn't seem to be any option to select Finder or Photos - it never got that far!)
