Safari replacing spaces with %20 with almost EVERY search

Almost every time I make a search on Safari's search bar, there is a chance that spaces get replaced with %20.

For example, let's just say I searched "How to make cupcakes". The search result becomes "How%20to%20make%20cupcakes", and I have to open a new tab to retype what I just typed into a new search bar.

According to google, %20 is what a space becomes in an URL, and that this odd behaviour is because Safari thinks what you've typed is an URL.

I'm here to ask twos questions tho.

Is this fixable, and if so, how do I fix this?
