How can I disable "Organise by conversation

I am using Mail in iOS Sequoia 15.6.

I don't want to organise my email messages by conversation. Every time I open Mail, it has changed my settings and reverts to having a tick next to "organise by conversation" again. I remove that tick but next time it is back again. How can I get it to remember my preference and not have to choose View > Organise by Conversation (uncheck) every single time.

Highlight conversations is nice but not organise. I don't like the way it includes stuff I have read previously and it is not easy to sort out which is the latest email (which needs attention today) from the old ones which have already been dealt with.

Your Mail preferences file is probably corrupted. Quit Mail. In Finder, go to

~/Library/Containers/Mail/Data/Library/Preferences

and delete the file “com.apple.mail.plist”. Note that you may find multiple “~/Library/Containers/Mail” folders. The file to delete will be in one of those.

You’ll lose all your previous settings. You may want to screenshot them prior to deleting the file so that you can reset them easily.
