"Unable to Verify Update" error while installing iOS 18.6 on my iPhone 14 Pro Max

I tried to update my device to the latest iOS version (18.6). The update downloaded successfully, but during the installation process, I received an error popup with the title: "Unable to Verify Update."

This isn’t the first time I've encountered this issue — in the past, I’ve updated using my Mac instead. However, I’d like to understand the root cause of the problem.

Is it possible that my iPhone is stuck on a bad CDN route or session?

if you have an older version of iOS that was not installed on your phone—

Home Screen > Settings > General > iPhone Storage

Scroll to the bottom of the list to see if there are any old iOS update listings(?)

If yes then tap on the old iOS update, then tap to Delete
