Apple Watch Series 8 Survival Story
I wanted to share an incredible story about the durability of my Apple Watch Series 8 (38mm, version 8.81). Last summer, I lost it in a local lake near the shore while boating. I didn’t realize it was gone until later, but a week later, I jokingly told friends I’d find it. To my shock, I spotted one side of the band sticking up from the lakebed, buried in dirt and fully submerged. I picked it up, and the battery indicator lit up! After cleaning and charging it, it worked perfectly—no issues.
Five months later, I lost it again while snorkeling in the Cayman Islands. Thinking it was gone for good, I searched the area anyway. Amazingly, some folks on a raft called out, “Are you looking for a watch?” They’d found it underwater and handed it over. Once again, I cleaned it, charged it, and it’s still ticking without a hitch.
I’ve considered upgrading to a newer model, but I’m attached to this resilient little device that’s survived two underwater adventures.
