The title has the problem. I just renewed AppleCare+ for this iPad and the small print on the renewal email says I will need a sales receipt if I have a loss or theft claim. Apple seems to remember a whole lot of detail about everything. They should have the info I need. I hope.

Actually, Apple only keeps the details about you that are required by law. That is why they have no idea what your Passcode is, have no access to your encrypted data, and also why some complain that their playlists created with Apple Music are not stored by Apple when the subscription is cancelled.

If you purchased it at an Apple Store, then contact them immediately. They are only stored for a very short time. As with any purchase, Apple has always recommended that you need to keep your receipt.

If you purchased online at Apple, log into your account at Apple.com and select the shopping bag to review your purchases and print a receipt. If you purchased in store, visit the store for a receipt. Receipts are retains only for a short period of time.
