Pretty much any drive out there should work to read CDs, and DVDs. You'll likely need a USB-A to USB-C adapter to connect it to the Mac though.

The only caveat is, if you want to actually read Blu-ray Discs like movies or burn blu-ray data discs and movie discs, you will need special software that can do that.

macOS does not have blu-ray playback or burning software.

The software will be entirely separate the actual drive, though some drives may have bundled software.
