Voice activation for Messages/WhatsApp not working on iPhone 16 with Apple CarPlay

I have an iphone16 on IOS 18.6, when connected to my car Apple Car Play Voice for phone works fine but I cant get voice activation for messages/whatsapp to work any ideas?
