Password Incorrect error for Hotmail IMAP account

If you can access the Hotmail web interface correctly with that same password, then remove the account from Apple Mail, and re-add it. This account removal and re-add will not affect mail on the mail server, or mail stored locally.

Use your browser to access your hotmail email account to see if you are using the incorrect password.
