GarageBand reverts to initial recording on iPhone after saving

Hello all! I’ve been trying to use GarageBand recently, but I've only encountered one problem. To start, I’m using the create with a microphone option/start with a real-life recording. To continue, I create up to a point in my song where I want to save. So, I click on the top left and go back to my songs (the only way I know how to save on iPhone). But when reopening, everything I had was gone, except for the beginning audio file. Any suggestions?
