Recover data from Time Machine inProgress file when can’t 'show package contents’?

hi experts!

i'd be so grateful for your help.

i have spent hours searching the internet, apple forums,

and trying different suggestions without success.

i am definitely not tech-savvy so i desperately need help

to have any success at this point.

here's the problem:

i have a time machine backup from feb 15 2023,

and my macbook died so to at least salvage any of my years of precious info i need this backup.

but it shows up as .inprogress, and is grayed out.

i cannot open it. i cannot get any previous time machine copies of it either.

i tried but it took half hour and only saved another folder i cant open.

i even tried making a copy directly from my imac and saved it to desktop,

but cannot open that either.

however,

in "get info" it appears to be a package of 23.05 GB!

attached image of that "get info".

so it IS all in there!

how can i restore it?
