iPhone 13 Mini Loses Audio After Connecting/Disconnecting Charger or CarPlay

My iPhone 13 mini stops playing any sound after plugging in and unplugging the power cable or after connecting to the car via USB/CarPlay. Sound only returns after restarting the phone. What could be causing this?

For example, a moment ago I was playing a previously recorded video on the phone and then watched YouTube. Everything was working correctly. Then I connected the phone to charge using the original Lightning cable. The video and sound continued to work. However, immediately after unplugging the power cable the video freezes. The issue is with the audio output, because if I try to play a video which do not have any sound it plays fine. But any attempt to play a video with audio—whether recorded with the camera or from a streaming platform—fails: the video simply won’t start.

Audio will play however via connected AirPods.

The phone does not display any errors.
