Splitting Kid off of Apple ID and setting up his new MacBook

We have 3 things we are trying to accomplish:

  1. Set up an Apple ID for my college bound son, and migrate him off my AppleID (I know this could have been done when he was younger but so be it)
  2. Migrate his Iphone, Ipad and Apple Watch to this new ID.
  3. Set up his new MacBook Pro.

My question centers around the order to these things and recommended steps. This will be the first Mac product in the household, as up til now we've been Windows PC laptops (due to work/school requirements) and the numerous iOS devices on one shared AppleID.

thanks in advance

Here are the usual steps: How to “unshare” an Apple ID - Apple Community

For this case, I’d start the untangling on both the existing iPhone and iPad.

That to get the shared data from both over to the newly-created Apple Account.

Add the new Apple Account to Family Sharing here, too.

Then boot the Mac for the first time, and use the new Apple Account there.
