MacBook Air with network error and internet access issue

After not using my MacBook Air for five days, I noticed I did not have any Internet access upon using my device (MacBook Air model A1932. Although I can connect to my router and WiFi, I cannot access the network button on the system settings. I get the following message: error. Extension process network exited. I’m assuming I need to update the operating system but how can I update if I don’t have an Internet connection? I am not tech savvy, so I need simplified help if possible. Thank you.

Hi,

Try following steps to troubleshoot: first, toggle your Wi-Fi off and on to refresh the connection. If that doesn't work, restart your Mac to clear potential software glitches. You can also try flushing the DNS cache or checking for any VPN or security software interference.

If these don't help, try to start up in Safe mode then normal boot could solve your issue.

Being connected to Wi-Fi ≠ having fast internet, or strong network speed.

Your iPhone might show “connected to Wi-Fi,” but that doesn’t guarantee:

A strong signal (check bars, ≠ check speed),
Low latency,
Or any internet at all!

If the router is overloaded, placed far away, or has poor backhaul (like a weak broadband uplink), screen mirroring performance will tank — even on 5GHz.

Try tools like Speedtest on both Mac and iPhone to verify actual throughput. Also check for:

High ping times (>30ms locally = bad for mirroring),
Packet loss,
Bufferbloat (especially under load).
