Missing 'Duplicates' option in Photos app on MacBook Pro

Does your Mac sleep when Photos is not in use? If so, consider changing the settings to have only the screen sleep, allowing the background processes to use the CPU and the data volume containing the Photos library to complete the scan for duplicates.

Every search tells me that there's "Duplicates" in "Utilities" in the sidebar.

There is not.

I don't want to d/load yet another program to find my duplicates, nor do I want to spend 100s of hours searching for them manually.

That's certainly an option, but saying so doesn't encourage me to help. Keep in mind that people here don't have to answer you.

It's often helpful to tell what you see in addition to what you don't see. Does the Sidebar look like this:

Do you have all those other things, but just not Duplicates? If not, you may need to open the Utilities by clicking the little > arrow to show the contents.

If Duplicates is missing, then Photos has not detected any duplicates, yet. It can take a while after ran upgrade, since the Mac has to scan through every picture in order to start comparing them. Has it been a week, yet?

Sometimes something that you call a duplicate is not something that Photos thinks is a duplicate.

Just remember, that the duplicates collection will only appear, once Photos has had enough time to scan for duplicates. Remove duplicate photos and videos on Mac - Apple Support

 If your library has duplicate photos or videos, they appear automatically in the Duplicates collection in Utilities. (Depending on the size of your library, duplicates may take some time to appear as Photos analyzes your photos.

Keep your Mac running and connected to power when you are not using it. Photos will only analyze your library, while you are not working with your Mac. If tPhotos Library is on an external drive it has to remain connected.
