How do I recover lost Apple Music library and downloads?

I opened the Apple Music app and my library is completely empty. It’s saying I have no downloads and nothing in my library, when a day ago I had literally thousands of songs. My playlists are still all there, named and with icons, but opening them shows there’s no songs in any of them. My music history is there, showing what I played, but every time I try and play a song, a pop up window appears and says I have no connection. Correct me if I’m wrong, but a WiFi issue shouldn’t delete my downloads? I got a vpn just before this happened, but after turning it off there’s no difference.

this is almost a decade of my life in music just, gone. And I have no idea why. I’m desperate.
