A protected AAC file is already purchased (and as javaliga states, the option to convert them to non-protected has been withdrawn), unless it's music from the Apple Music subscription service.

If the protected music is as a result of your subscription to Apple Music, and your MP3 player is an Android device, I believe there is an Apple Music app in the Google Play store that you could download. You would then use your subscription to Apple Music via that app.

Protected AAC audio files can be burned to CD, then ripped back to whatever unprotected format you choose. There will be a small loss of quality. If you have a large number of such tracks you might consider subscribing to iTunes Match for a year. Once your existing library is matched/uploaded you should be able to remove the current downloads of these protected items, then download 256k DRM-free copies, which you can continue to play after you terminate your iTunes Match subscription. In other words you get better quality version than you would by burning to CD and ripping back. This feature is not included in Apple Music. Make backup copies of the files first. Note that some items may simply not be available in the store any longer and so cannot be upgraded in this way.
