Home button doesn’t work with black screen on iPad Air

Ok, I have an old iPad Air 2. The home button doesn’t work (stopped working a few years ago) and now I have the black screen. I can hear notifications cause it still connects to my WiFi and it makes the “ding” when you plug it in to charge. But it work recognize being plugged into the computer, even while log in running the iTunes app, also the reset by pressing the top volume bottom volume the power isn’t resetting it either. Any help suggestion would be great. Last resort would be sending it in to see if the Apple repair shop can fix it or not.

side note, I did got a new iPad, but my old iPad has my list of pin sites I use and stored notes that I would love to recover

It is a common misconception that an iPad (or iPhone) can remain fully functional with damaged or defective physical buttons.

Whilst Accessibility features (such as assistive touch) can be used to augment the User Interface, these features cannot be used as a substitute for physical button sequences that must be used to trigger system recovery actions. Sooner or later, as now, you will encounter a situation from which you cannot recover.

If you don't have a pre-existing iCloud or iTunes backup of your iPad, it may now be too late to create a backup. That said, any data that you have already synchronised with iCloud will remain accessible using a web-browser:

You may be able to arrange repair of your iPad either by (a) visiting the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - or (b) using Apple's mail-in repair service:

Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple

iPad Repair & Service - Apple Support

Repair costs may be uneconomic. Instead you might be better advised to put the cost of repair towards purchase of a much newer or current model iPad.
