Keep in mind that commercial DVD-Video and Blu-Ray movie discs almost always have DRM on them.

If you look at the description of Toast, there is a footnote that says "Does not rip, capture, or copy encrypted or copy-protected content."

I'm using Cisdem Video Converter, good for beginners, but it's not free and is many video tools into one, you might skip it. For free options, try MakeMKV for high-quality MKV videos or HandBrake for MP4, just a heads-up, commercial Blu-rays and DVDs can be tricky with them.
