How to restore comprehensive search functionality in iTunes library on Windows 11?
I have an iTunes library that is terabytes in size. My content is extensively marked up, including a lot of information in the "comments" field. I used to have iTunes search configured so that searching for anything in the library would match track titles, artists, album artists, album titles, composers, and comments.
I recently upgraded to Windows 11, installed the latest iTunes, and changed the default settings so that it would see my old library. This is iTunes 12.13.7.1.
Search in the product is now absolutely useless to me.
For example, I used to be able to type "Metheny Corea" in the search field and instantly get a full view of all tracks where Pat Metheny was any of artist, composer, or listed in the comment, and Chick Corea was also in any one of those fields. Now search says nothing matches. It's lying. I can't even search for part of a track name and an artist name to find recordings of that artist playing on that song. All the search text has to match one field. This means search is simply reduced to a slower way of clicking on the Artist or Album link in the sidebar.
I hate that search always wants me to choose whether to search the store instead of my library. I hate the presentation of the search results in abbreviated dropdown lists instead of simply filtering the main view. And most of all I hate that search seems to have been reduced to album title, song title, or artist name. Who thought this was an improvement?
Can I get the old behaviour back?
