How can I reset an older Mac mini without a wired mouse?

I need to find a way to reset an older Mac mini without a wired mouse. I do not want to purchase one just to wipe out this device that should have been done years ago. I already purchased a wired keyboard that I really dislike and absolutely do not want to buy a wired mouse to just wipe this out. Is there a way to do this without a wired mouse? If it were worth keeping that would be different, but it has beach balled from the day I plugged it in many years ago and takes forever to do anything. I am not in the U.S. or I would have taken it to Apple right away, but I had no such luxury, so I worked with it as much as I could, but now I just want to clean it out and unplug and retire it. I was following instructions online but they did not tell me that I could not use my bluetooth mouse when I rebooted and held down command +R.

Even with the current crop of bluetooth connected iMac keyboards and mice, it's a good idea to keep an inexpensive set of wired USB keyboard and mouse on hand, not only for a situation such as this, but for other similar situations which might require one to access recovery mode or troubleshoot some other problem. If you never use it, consider yourself lucky. But when you need it, you'll have it.

A USB set can be had for less than $20 at Amazon. This, for example: Logitech MK120 Wired USB Keyboard and Mouse Combo - Amazon.

The keyboard doesn't have to be Mac specific, even a PC keyboard will do.

Thank you, if I have to have one, I will wait until the weekend and borrow one from my office. I am in the Caribbean and inexpensive doesn't exist unfortunately. I did borrow a mouse this afternoon and made the mistake of thinking I might try to keep using the computer and set up a blue tooth mouse, but after beach balling and taking forever to do anything, I decided it is best to wipe it out. Thank you for the reply., I appreciate it.

Thank you for that. Would I do that in recovery mode?

That person appears to be someone posting AI responses that they don't themselves understand. Many of their responses in other threads have been plain wrong. Depending on what you mean by "reset," their suggestions are probably not relevant.

a brody, on the other hand, is very knowledgeable and trustworthy.
