Extracting audio from video for song creation

For iPhone iMovie, open the project and select the video clip in the timeline. Then click on the action button (the one with the scissors on it) in the lower left and tap the "Detach" option. That will separate the audio from the video.

You can then trim the video back to 1 second and export/save the project essentially as an audio project to your photos app. In the photos app you can trim out the 1 second video fragment. There may be other ways to do this, and you can play around to see.

Assuming that you are using iMovie for Mac, select the clip in the timeline and do Modify/Detach Audio.

Or, you can export the clip as an audio only file (an option in the export box).

You can use various online tools or software like Audacity to extract audio from a video file. Just import the video into the software, select the audio track, and save it as a separate file. Good luck with your song creation!

Audacity is not available for the iPhone.
