Text messages appearing on iPad instead of iPhone

In the past week I have gotten a couple of text messages that show up on my iPad and not my iPhone. I have the iPad configured to not receive the ones sent to my cell number. I have looked at a couple of "fixes" and my settings are already set to what they say. If it were the settings, why are only a couple going to the iPad and not all of them? The main one I'm concerned about is my mom has gotten better about texting but I'm not getting them correctly. Help!
