BetterSleep app does not include background noise when using Airplay

My wife uses the BetterSleep app which allows the mixing of both a music program and background noise (rain, white noise, etc.). When casting to a Homepod Mini with Airplay, only the music is heard, but no background noise. Can this be changed or fixed anywhere within Settings?
