iPhone 8 unavailable - could not download iTunes because storage almost full.

iPhone 8 unavailability - this was after the screen broke and tried to login until I was locked out. I then connected the iPhone to my laptop. One the connection was showing on my iPhone, I started downloading iTunes. However the downloading did not finish as the iPhone storage was almost full! Now I am stuck
